Solarframe creates a ray of light in a tough market

21st May 2009

Solarframe is proving that it is possible to succeed in a tough market after opening a new 25,000 sq/ft window, door and conservatory roof fabrication unit in Goldthorpe, South Yorkshire. The company started trading in February 2009, creating 15 jobs in the area and has already created a healthy order book that extends to the end of this year.

Steve Taylor and business partner Tony Grindley, set up Solarframe because they recognised a need for a company that could offer trade customers outstanding products backed up by great service. From the start, Solarframe was determined to give installers a complete solution and that meant offering fabrication of windows, doors and conservatory roofs.

Solarframe was very clear on its target market – trade installers, which has enabled it to build a business around the needs of these customers. Being a new company was an advantage as it gave the management team a blank canvas around which they could develop a business plan exactly right for installers.

Choosing the right people, sourcing the best window profile systems and investing in precision machinery were all fundamental to Solarframe’s business plan. Offering customers an easy access location was important and one of the reasons for choosing Goldthorpe, which is perfectly located on the main A635, between the A1 and M1 motorways.

Staff at Solarframe, whether they are management or shop-floor, have been carefully selected because of their many years of experience in the window industry. This has resulted in a highly skilled team that has quickly established an efficient and responsive production facility. The company has also invested heavily in equipment for its fabrication unit, which is some of the most advanced available and ensures high levels of accuracy and quality, which is crucial in ensuring trade customer’s have hassle-free installations.

Steve Taylor, Joint Managing Director, comments: “We couldn’t have wished for a better start and, due to the experience of our team, we have the feel of an established company rather than one that is only a few weeks old. It has allowed is to quickly create an efficient fabrication unit that has resulted in us generating a healthy order book.”

Solarframe’s products set them apart from many other glazing companies because, after careful consideration, it chose Eurocell profile systems. The company will shortly be launching an ‘A’ rated window that will provide installers with the best value energy-rated product on the market.

The company offers Eurocell’s market-leading Eurologik ovolo and chamfered profile systems. Completing the portfolio is Eurocell’s conservatory roof system, which has gained a reputation as a product designed engineered for easy installation. Solarframe is encouraging all installers to compare it to their current system as it could have huge benefits for their business.

Steve Taylor concludes: “We are a young company with years of experience and although that sounds contradictory, it is the knowledge and skills of our people that really makes the difference.  It means we are responsive and have an excellent understanding of customer requirements.”

Solarframe is now focused on establishing itself as one of the dominant regional fabrication companies within the UK, by providing customers with exceptional products and services.
