100th Eurocell Branch On Winning Form In Shrewsbury
Huge celebrations marked the opening of the 100th Eurocell Building Plastics branch in Shrewsbury on Tuesday 17th November.
The new branch was officially opened with the unveiling of a plaque by the Mayor of Shrewsbury, Councillor Alan Townsend. He was accompanied by the Lady Mayoress, along with a host of other local dignitaries and customers.
“We are delighted to welcome Eurocell to Shrewsbury, especially as it creates several new jobs in the area,” said Mayor of Shrewsbury, Councillor Alan Townsend. “It is fantastic to see a business continuing to grow and we wish Eurocell Building Plastics every success in our town.”
Chairman of Shrewsbury Business Commerce, Peter Bettis, also attended and helped during the plaque unveiling and ribbon cutting. “We are only too pleased to support businesses that invest in the local area and wish Eurocell a long and prosperous association with Shrewsbury”, he said.
Following official proceedings, the branch team and customers were joined by two Shrewsbury Town Football Club players, Craig Disley and goalkeeper Glynn Garner for a penalty shootout. Customers tested their skills against the players by shooting at a target goal – joint highest score was Greg Day at ADCP and Craig Disley with a respectable 6 out of 10.
Tension during the shootout was heightened as Shrewsbury Town were due to play local team Telford United in the Shropshire Senior Cup later in the evening. In what should be a good omen, Shrewsbury remained on winning form with a 2-1 victory.
That certainly seemed to be the case for the branch with numerous new customer accounts being opened during the day. Sales got off to a winning start too, with customers eager to take advantage of the great products and value for money. To top it all, some lucky customers received prizes, including tools, workwear and accessories, which were awarded throughout the day.
Later in the afternoon, the players did the honours in releasing 100 Eurocell Building Plastics balloons, each of which had been assigned to a customer during the day. The customer assigned with the balloon that travels the furthest will receive shopping vouchers to spend at a number of high street retail outlets.
“Opening our 100th branch in Shrewsbury represents a real achievement for our company,” said Patrick Bateman, Chief Executive Officer of Eurocell. “We are now firmly focussed on continuing to provide excellent service and value in all our branches as that underlines the critical differences between us and our competitors.”
