Eurologik Fit For A King
Eurologik Fit For A King
Over 400 high performance windows and doors fabricated using the Eurologik profile system have been specified at Tidesley Close, Penkridge, a large extra-care facility in Staffordshire.
The flagship scheme, owned by Care Plus, was named after Edgar the Peaceful, King of England 959–75, who lived locally in an area then known as ‘Pencric’.
Rugby-based Nationwide Windows fabricated and installed the Eurologik windows and French doors on the development of 82 apartments.
The Eurologik profile system is ideally suited for both new-build and refurbishment projects because of its market leading thermal performance and appealing, refined aesthetics.
Eurologik’s multi-chamber profile design locks heat inside the building, ensuring that the elderly residents at Penkridge will benefit from comfortable, draught-free living areas. Thermal performance of the windows and door frames was enhanced further by the use of 100 percent post-consumer PVC-U Thermal Inserts.
These enable lower U-values and higher Energy Index Ratings to be achieved, whilst avoiding the need for expensive glazing specifications. In combination, they helped the windows at Penkridge achieve a U-value of 1.3w/mÇK.
Thermal performance is enhanced further with Eurologik’s high performance PCE (Post co-extruded) gasket, which ensures maximum air tightness, along with outstanding adhesion and weathering performance.
Aside from its energy efficiency, Eurologik was specified for Penkridge because of its appealing aesthetics. This is achieved because of its ultra-slim profiles, which maximise the area of glass in relation to the frame, creating a more refined sightline – making it a great choice for both the windows and French doors on this development.
Eurologik is offered in a wide choice of colour options.
The client chose Chartwell Green, a new profile colour from Eurocell because it complemented the brickwork facade as well as helping the development sit harmoniously in its rural surroundings.
Nationwide Windows is one of the UK’s largest fabricators with specialist expertise in social housing and new build sectors. It has established a highly developed recycling pathway with Eurocell that offers customers completely-closed loop post consumer recycling on large scale refurbishment projects.
The BRE has awarded PVC-U an A-rating for sustainability in residential and A+ for commercial developments in the BRE Green Guide to Specification, principally because of the work that has gone into recycling.
PVC-U achieves a Reference Service Life (RSL) rating of at least 35 years and can be recycled up to 10 times without degradation in quality – giving the raw material a life expectancy of 350 years.
