John and Sarah Ready enjoy entertaining on their sunny patio so they were keen to create a seamless link between their home and garden. Eurocell’s Aspect panoramic folding door system provided the perfect solution, opening up the back of their house on summer days, and flooding the interior with light all year long.

Sarah and John chose a four-door system which stretches across almost the entire width of their modern townhouse, allowing them to step directly from the kitchen to their patio area and the garden beyond. They selected cream frames to co-ordinate with their existing window frames.

Sarah says: “We took out the standard French doors which were fitted on all of the homes in our estate, and had these beautiful, smooth-running folding doors put in. The whole house feels brighter and more airy, and the kitchen is flooded with natural light.
“We’re really pleased with the new doors and we make much more use of the garden now because when the doors are fully opened it just feels as if it’s an extension of the house.”

Neighbours in similar styled houses have been very impressed by the way Sarah and John have transformed and upgraded their home, and several are already planning to follow suit.
The Aspect system has been expertly designed to maximise the amount of light which the glazed panels bring in, meaning you see more of the garden and less of the doors. When closed, they have a sleek, stylish appearance because the edge seals on the glazed panels are cleverly hidden between the leaves of the door. The exclusively designed D-shaped handles fit into recesses, which means when the doors are opened they fold flat against the walls.
As well as adding value to their home, Sarah and John were keen to improve the insulation in what had previously been a colder part of the house. The Aspect doors are manufactured with a square-edge profile which gives a superior seal along the edges so even with a larger glazed area the room retains more heat.
Sarah explains: “It was always a bit chilly in the kitchen and we were keen to reduce the heat loss through our old French doors. We noticed as soon as the doors were installed how much cosier it felt, so as well as opening up the house during the summer we will save on our winter heating bills as well.”
Aspect doors also give householders greater peace of mind when it comes to home security because they contain stainless steel anti-jemmy pins within the roller track which means they cannot be removed from the outside.
The couple have chosen wisely to minimise their maintenance costs because Eurocell’s frames are through-coloured, and so look good for many years as minor scratches will not be visible. Another feature which enhances durability is the ‘intelligent’ handles which have a built in mechanism to prevent the shoot bolts scraping the floor. This also avoids damage to the bolts, which would then need to be replaced, and this is the major cause of repairs to standard patio doors.
John and Sarah chose the doors after discussing their requirements with staff at their local Eurocell Building Plastics branch in Alfreton, and they asked Eurocell’s fitters to carry out the installation.
