Alternative Windows helps refurbish homes in York
Alternative Windows recently helped City of York Council refurbish 64 of its properties where the windows had deteriorated beyond economic repair.
After surveying the properties in the Westfield and Acomb areas, Alternative supplied and installed UPVC windows fabricated using Eurocell’s Eurologik Ovolo system. The council chose Ovolo because its fully sculptured profile provided superior aesthetics compared to the other systems it had been presented.
The windows supplied by Alternative significantly improved the thermal performance of the properties because of Eurologik Ovolo’s multi-chambered design, which helps reduce heat loss through the frames. The windows were also supplied with low-emissivity glass, which again provided them with high levels of thermal efficiency.
Refurbishing the properties was a priority for City of York Council as the existing windows had deteriorated to a point where it was not economical to repair them. This was resulting in the properties being draughty and energy inefficient. The poor state of the windows was also leading to issues with jarring and sticking on the opening sashes.
Darren Pratt, Sales Director at Alternative Windows, explains: “We were delighted to supply the windows to City of York Council especially as they have made such a big difference to the comfort and wellbeing of the residents.”
Steve Lawson, Senior Projects Surveyor at City of York Council, explains: “The new windows look superb and we are delighted that they are helping residents reduce their fuel bills and making their homes much more comfortable. The feedback from residents has been extremely positive.”
Alternative Windows, based in Leeds, has invested several million pounds in computerised machinery and IT services to maximise operational efficiency and ensure the highest quality standards for customers.
