TV’s Tommy Walsh opens 150th Eurocell branch
Celebrity TV builder, Tommy Walsh, proved a big hit when he attended the official opening of our 150th branch in Basingstoke. After the unveiling of a plaque marking the event by Basingstoke and Deane Mayor, Councillor Jane Frankum, Tommy got in on the act by performing the ribbon cutting ceremony and then helping with the launch of 150 red and white helium-filled balloons.
Throughout the morning and early afternoon Tommy chatted to customers, staff and suppliers, and even found time to have a ‘selfie’ taken with the Mayor for her Facebook and Twitter pages!
Over the course of the day customers were given the chance to win a variety of prizes via the Golden Ticket giveaway – these included 15 top-of-the-range Makita cordless drills, a composite door, a year’s supply of silicone and a fantastic site DAB radio. Most of the winners wanted their photo taken alongside Tommy, some even getting him to autograph their prizes.
Summing up the day Warren Haworth, Southern Divisional Director, said: “It was great to have Tommy Walsh at the branch, adding a bit of ‘celebrity’ to the day. Actually, he was extremely impressed by the range of products and even expressed interest in a Skypod for a development he has coming up.”
The new branch will support those nearby, Camberley and Andover, and will be managed by Peter Pubanc, who has many years of experience in the industry. Richard Embeary, Business Development Manager, will work alongside Peter to provide advice and expertise on bespoke products such as windows, composite doors, and roofing products such as Equinox and Skypod.
In common with all Eurocell branches the new latest branch features a showroom with a large trade counter area and stocks products including Roofline, rainwater systems, window finishing trims, doors and conservatories as well as lines such as underground drainage, hand tools, power tools and protective clothing. All are available to take away, buy online or for direct delivery to site.

Skypod reaches new heights
There’s no doubt about the popularity of our Skypod range of PVC-U skylights – they are appearing on flat roofs all over the country! Homeowners are enjoying the transformational qualities of light and the feeling of space that comes with the skylight. So how do you make a great product better?
Well we’ve taken a new angle, quite literally, on Skypod and will be soon introducing a new model with a steeper pitch.
The new 35 degree pitch is visually very different to the standard 20 degree pitch of the current range and so can be employed on more commercial applications where this degree of pitch is more common.
This market tends to be dominated by aluminium products so the arrival of the new Skypod will give your clients a wider choice of material. We will be bringing you further news of the new Skypod shortly , so watch this space!
Tackle Winter with Warmup
As Autumn and Winter approach your customers are probably reaching for the thermostat. So don’t forget that Eurocell has teamed up with Warmup, the leading floor heating brand, to offer an outstanding array of products.
These range from smart thermostats that interact with the homeowners’ smartphone to control and manage heating to self-adhesive electrical heating mats that can be rolled and laid straight out of the box.
The heating range, which will work with both hydronic (plumbed) and electrical underfloor heating systems, consists of Warmup StickyMat System, the Total-16 Insulation System, the Warmup Loose Wire System and the Warmup Foil Heater System. These are backed by a lifetime warranty and Warmup’s own SafetyNET Installation Guarantee, which means that if the product is accidentally damaged during installation then Warmup will replace it free of charge.
The smart thermostats, the 4iE and the 3iE, will both cut heating bills significantly through using the heating more effectively. The 4iE also connects into the homeowner’s wifi in order to suggest the most cost-effective supplier and can be used with most heating systems: combi and system boilers and underfloor heating, electric and hydronic. The 3iE is a dedicated underfloor thermostat that provides extremely accurate heating control.
It’s a fact of life that you can’t convince all of the people all of the time, especially when it comes to PVC-U windows. But when your business depends on it, it’s great to have all the facts to hand to overcome any objections your potential customer might have.
That’s why we have produced a handy question and answer section on our website to give you the facts when your customer is dealing in fiction.
Questions about style, strength, aesthetics, maintenance and life expectancy are answered fully and frankly – it’s worth a read!

The popular TV show The Apprentice culminates in Lord Sugar uttering the famous line ‘You’re hired’ and now it’s the turn of Eurocell to attract and recruit new apprentices. For successful applicants we have designed programmes that will introduce young people into the business and train them according to the needs of each department and the business as a whole.
These programmes will enable apprentices to learn skills quickly and so make a significant contribution to the business, says David Leighton-Berry, National Training Co-ordinator.
“These programmes cut the time it takes to become skilled and gives apprentices a a good head start so they can build their career from the moment they set foot through the door – or even before when they use our e-learning programmes,” he says.
“The great strength of Eurocell is its diversity, meaning that we can offer apprenticeship placements for employees in many sectors, such as maintenance, design, IT, Customer Services, manufacturing operations, warehousing and much more,” adds David.
