Eurocell cements charity partnership as fundraising reaches over £20,000

19 October 2023

Eurocell the UK’s leading PVC-U manufacturer, distributor and recycler, has cemented its charity partnership with Maggie’s, a charity that provides free cancer support in centres across the UK, and presented them with a cheque for the money raised at a recent event.

The team set an ambitious target of raising £10,000 before the end of the year but has already exceeded this, raising over £22,000 for Maggie’s following a number of fundraising events in the last few months.

Eurocell presented Maggie’s with a cheque for just over £20,000 at its head office in Alfreton on October 17th, with the funds raised at a recent corporate charity golf day. This also coincided with a business-wide “Go Outrageously Orange” fundraising day, where employees were encouraged to dress in orange.

Maggie’s, set up by Maggie Keswick Jencks in 1996 following her own experience of having cancer, provides professional advice for cancer patients and their families on finances, wellbeing and understanding diagnosis. Through the support given, 96% of people feel less alone after visiting one of the advice centres and 98% are more comfortable talking to their medical teams afterwards. There is now a network of centres across the UK.

Individuals at Eurocell have undertaken a range of fundraising activities including cycling 250km as part of Maggie’s virtual Gran Fondo, 10km runs, a 5km walk, car boot sale and walking a mile every day throughout August.

Darren Waters, CEO of Eurocell commented: “It is important for us to have a positive impact in the wider community, which is why we are proud to support Maggie’s, a charity that helps make day-to-day life feel more manageable for people who are living with cancer. The work they do across 26 centres in the UK and further afield, to support patients and their families, is truly amazing.

“I am proud to see the Eurocell team come together and smash the £10,000 target that we set for 2023, and having fun while doing it. We plan to support Maggie’s with some larger events next year, which I’m sure will raise more donations through the business and our partners.”

Adam Fedder, Head of Corporate Partnerships Fundraising at Maggie’s commented: “Thanks to all the team at Eurocell for supporting Maggie’s. This exciting partnership and the funds already raised will help us continue supporting more people with cancer and their loved ones when their lives have been turned upside down by a cancer diagnosis. We have enjoyed supporting their activities and it was great to be involved with the Eurocell Golf Day. We can’t wait to grow the awareness across the business and be involved with more events over the next year.”
