Home improvement specialist, Eurocell, has raised £10,000 for its charity partner after hosting a 5-aside football tournament at Power League in Birmingham.

Ten teams made up of colleagues from Eurocell’s branches and offices from across Britain took part in the tournament in early July. The team from the West Midlands and North Wales region ran out eventual winners, with the event raising £9,200 thanks to contributions from customers and colleagues. Eurocell topped up the efforts to hit the £10,000 mark.

The fundraising is part of Eurocell’s charity efforts for its 50th year, which it is celebrating in 2024. Colleagues from across Eurocell nationwide are aiming to raise £50,000 for its charity partner, Maggie’s, a cancer charity that provides expert care for people living with cancer as well as support for their family and friends.

Eurocell is already well on the way to its target with more than £38,000 raised so far.

Lee Hardman, New Branch Development Manager at Eurocell, who organised the tournament said; "It was a fantastic effort from all those who took part - it got very competitive! To raise so much money towards our annual goal for our charity partner, Maggie’s, is amazing, and we would like to thank everyone for donating and who took part."

Maggie’s operates more than 26 centres across the UK, providing support for those living with cancer and their families. It was founded by writer, gardener, and designer Maggie Keswick Jencks, who was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 47. Maggie and her husband, Charles, recognised the need for a place where people could receive support outside of hospitals. The first Maggie’s centre opened in 1996.

The cheque handover for the funds raised took place at Maggie’s Cheltenham. If you would like to raise money for Maggie’s, you can do so here;  https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/eurocellsupportsmaggies.
