An increasing number of Silika customers are choosing Modus because of its contemporary style, which is distinctly different to existing chamfered and ovolo profile systems that make up the UK windows market.
Enhancing its appeal with homeowners is the fact that Modus is the only profile system that has been designed in the UK in the last 10 years. That means most of the existing systems fall way below modern thermal performance standards because they were designed to meet pre 2005 Building Regulations.
The Dawes family decided to replace their windows because the existing frames offered poor thermal efficiency, which meant that they were susceptible to condensation in winter and were paying higher energy bills.
Another factor taken into account by the owner was that the existing frames looked dated. They also wanted the replacement windows to match the contemporary style of the interior. Mr Dawes said: “The square shape of the window sash was just what we were looking for and we immediately noticed how much warmer our home felt. Modus delivers optimum energy efficiency for Mr and Mrs Dawes because its 75mm multi-chamber profile locks heat inside their home. Unlike older profile systems, Modus is designed specifically for 28mm and 44mm bead options, which gives homeowners a choice of both double and triple glazing specifications.
Along with the multi-chambered frame design, Modus windows can achieve a U-value of 0.7 from a triple glazed unit and a 1.1 U-value is achievable from double-glazed units.
