Eurocell Waste Management Services.

Now, more than ever, business has to take full responsibility for any waste it produces, and must follow particularly strict guidelines, rules and even laws on how it is handled. In the UK the rules for Waste Management include:
1. Keeping waste to an absolute minimum by doing everything you reasonably can to prevent, reuse, recycle or recover waste.
2. All waste must be sorted and stored safely and securely
3. A waste transfer note must be completed for each load of waste that leaves any place of business.
4. You are responsible to check that any waste carrier your business uses is registered to dispose of waste.
5. You must not allow any waste carrier to dispose of your waste illegally (and it is your responsibility to report them to Crimestoppers if they do).

If you intend to dispose of your own business waste, you now have register as a waste carrier in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland – and depending on exactly what kind of waste you’re disposing of, you may need to apply for a waste permit too.

Even storing your own business waste is fraught with problems due to the extremely strict rules that must be adhered to at all times.

1. Waste must be stored in a secure area.
2. You must use containers that will not allow the escape of waste.
3. All containers must be clearly labeled, showing what type of waste they contain.
4. Covers must be used to prevent waste being blown away.
5. Waterproof cover must be used where rain could cause contaminated run-off or prevent re-use of your waste.

There’s even a considerable amount of paperwork to deal with. For each load of non-hazardous waste you may move from your premises, you need a waste transfer note, invoice or other document, detailing the exact contents of that waste. That document must include enough information to help the business taking your waste to handle and dispose of it safely. You’ll need to then keep that document for a minimum of 2 years, showing it to an enforcement officer from your local council or the Environment Agency on request.

Add to all that, the fact that fines imposed by the Environment Agency for breaking any of these rules have increased six-fold in the past 5 years, averaging at £147,575 in 2017/18, and you’ll have to agree that Waste Management could add up to huge headaches for your business.

Of course, there is an alternative. You could let Eurocell take care of it for you. Including all of that paperwork.

Eurocell manages waste safely, securely and sustainably

At Eurocell we’re acknowledged experts in Waste Management, and have been for over 15 years. A commitment that’s made us the UKs leading recycler of UPVC, bar none.In fact, in 2018 alone we recycled a massive 1.2 million recovered frames, regardless of age, colour or finish, keeping an incredible 6,000 tonnes of UPVC out of landfill and putting it back into production. It’s all down to the “closed loop” recycling process we operate via Eurocell Recycling – a company we created solely to provide a dedicated collection and recycling and waste mangement brand to service not just our company, but our whole industry. By utilising this system we’re able to manage waste more efficiently and put more and more recycled material into the production of new doors, windows, conservatories and building products than ever before, keeping more waste than ever out of our environment.

But have you ever wondered exactly what goes on in our recycling centres? What happens to all those all window frames and UPVC offcuts once they’re driven through the factory gates? And what does “Closed loop” mean?

Why Waste Management matters

It can’t be overstated that the planet’s resources aren’t infinite and that it’s massively important that of every one of us uses those resources as responsibly as possible. It’s because of this simple but inescapable fact that Eurocell takes recycling so seriously and why we are totally committed to investing still more in the process for many years to come. Our waste management and recycling systems have kept thousands, if not millions, of tonnes of UPVC waste in the production loop and out of landfill over the past decade but we’re equally committed to the future.Recycling means that, rather than extracting the oil required for the production of every kind of plastic from the earth, we’re extracting hundreds of years of use from the oil we’ve already taken when we manufactured our original products. Not only that, we provide the facilities to collect and re-use every single piece of UPVC waste that every manufacturer, supplier and fitter in the UK needs to dispose of every week of every year.

So we’re not just doing what’s best for the planet, we’re doing what’s best for all the businesses we help with waste management and recycling.Anyone sending frames to Eurocell for recycling can receive payment from us while also avoiding landfill taxes - which currently stand at £56.00 per tonne and are steadily increasing.

At Eurocell we believe that we’re all responsible for our environment and that supremely efficient waste management recycling is the biggest contribution our industry can make to conserving that environment for the future.

In fact, we’re not just leading the way for recycling in our industry. In 2018 we were named Manufacturer of the Year at the highly respected MRW National Recycling Awards.

These awards are presented in recognition of best practice and innovation in recycling and waste management across a range of sectors, including public, private and food and drink. So, in a highly competitive and varied field, we came first. It’s a position we feel we deserve and one we’re committed to maintaining.

Because at Eurocell, we’re serious about waste management and recycling.
