FIT Show Top 10

7 April 2016

With the FIT Show 2016 imminent, we play Tripadvisor with 10 reasons to visit the exhibition this year.

10: Telford.

Not an obvious tourist destination perhaps, yet this new town – named after the legendary engineer – is bang on top the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution and a handy base for visiting UNESCO World Heritage Sites at Ironbridge and Coalbrookdale; not to mention a host of other attractions.

9: Eurocell!

This year’s FIT Show sees us focus in on four of our most popular products and systems across two stands – one dedicated to our high-performance, high aesthetic window and door systems; and another for our innovative tiled conservatory roofs and roof lanterns.

8. The RAF.

Less than 10 miles down the road is the RAF Museum Cosford. Situated next to an active airfield, this is the only place in the Midlands where you can get close to so many breathtaking aircraft for free. Over 70 internationally important aircraft are housed in three wartime hangars and, with the National Cold War Exhibition based there, you can look back to when we were all just waiting for the Four Minute Warning.

7: Eurocell!

Featured on Stand AT13 is Aspect: our innovative panoramic bi-fold door system. With ultra slim frames and over 30 unique features, many of them patented, Aspect is the first and only system of any material to gain BBA approval. Furthermore, it brings additional peace of mind – especially in the Part Q Building Regulations context – as it also has Secured by Design status (subject to fabricator accreditation).

6. Gin and ale.

After a hard day visiting, or working at, the show, the temptation of a relaxing drink could prove overwhelming. You could indulge yourself fully at the Wrekin Brewing Co. up the road in Wellington. They have a pub onsite, do evening tours and have just opened a gin distillery!

5. Eurocell!

Beyond, Equinox and Slateskin, the stand also showcases the Skypod roof lantern range. Offering better value for money than aluminium or competitive PVC-U alternatives, Skypod has a fixed 200 roof pitch and is supplied with self-cleaning, temperature controlled glass in Blue, Neutral, Bronze and Clear as standard, with a U-value of 1.0W/m²K achievable.

Fresh to the Skypod range is the SkypodSQ. This square skylight presents perfectly balanced sight lines and, due to its simple but ingenious four-hip design, lets in more natural light than conventional designs of equivalent surface area. SkypodSQ can be fitted quickly and accurately because there are no mitring or awkward angles to cut – just assemble and screw into place using the pre-drilled screw holes.

4. Telford Hotel & Golf Resort.

After a few beers, there are few things the industry enjoys more than a good golf day. To be honest, half the visitors and stand personnel are probably already staying here...until Saturday. For those who prefer pampering (i.e. a kale smoothy) though, there’s a spa.

3. Eurocell!

On Stand A70, we give rein to Equinox – our innovative tiled conservatory roof system and its stunning new tiling system. Now Equinox comes with SlateSkin – a swift installation and highly realistic slate-effect GRP tile sheet. With multiple tile courses built in to each sheet, SlateSkin reduces the time spent positioning and nailing tiles, with no compromise on build quality or aesthetics, while its lightweight allows the pitch to be set anywhere from 50 – a pitch that no other current tile system can currently achieve – to 350.

Guaranteed for 25 years, the SlateSkin sheet-tiling system is not only durable but up to 50% faster to fit than other conservatory tile roofing methods. Together, SlateSkin and Equinox combine to create the most advanced tiled roof system currently available.

2. The Iron Bridge.

Coalbrookdale Museum of Iron and Blists Hill. Pursuing the Industrial Revolution theme, the fenestration sector has always been one for entrepreneurship and innovation; and you can get a taste of how Britain became the manufacturing business powerhouse of the world at these superb centres dedicated to the epoch of invention.

Our Stand AT13 is hosting the undoubted star of the show in the form of the new Modus S, a mechanically jointed flush sash casement window, which combines modern materials with a truly authentic traditional appearance. This latest model to join the Modus range is possible thanks to precision-engineered mouldings inside the frame which remove the need for diagonal corner welds – a distinctive characteristic of standard PVC-U windows.

The new joint detail adds considerable authenticity to the appearance of the window and enables installers and fabricators to provide a product with the look of timber, while retaining all the energy efficient and low maintenance benefits of PVC-U. Furthermore, it is up to 25% less expensive than the nearest equivalent PVC-U flush sash product.
