Modus S gets pulses racing at FIT Show

New mechanically jointed flush sash window creates a stir at official launch

The busy and vibrant FIT Show, held at the Telford International Centre, was the perfect event at which to launch and showcase some exciting new products. Modus S proved to be a major talking point, visitors praising its slim sightlines and authentic traditional appearance, made possible thanks to its precision-engineered mouldings inside the frame which remove the need for diagonal corner welds – a distinctive characteristic of standard PVC-U windows. As a result, the mechanically jointed flush sash casement window looks like timber but delivers the optimum energy efficiency and virtually maintenance-free performance benefits of PVC-U.

Market research shows that demand for premium flush sash windows is continuing to grow as discerning home buyers want differentiated properties that present a traditional appearance while meeting modern performance standards. So Modus S, which was designed with this in mind, looks set to build on the success of the rest of the Modus range.

Elsewhere the new SlateSkin GRP sheet tiling system had visitors glued to the step-by-step video being shown on the stand. Providing both swift installation and a realistic slate-effect, SlateSkin is the latest enhancement Eurocell has developed for Equinox, its innovative tiled conservatory roof system. Together, SlateSkin and Equinox create the most advanced system currently available, which given the current trend for re-roofing conservatories to provide additional usable living space, provides installers with a fantastic business opportunity.

With multiple tile courses built in to each sheet, the SlateSkin GRP system reduces the time spent positioning and nailing tiles, with no compromise on build quality or aesthetics. Its light weight allows the pitch to be set anywhere from 50 – a pitch that no other current tile system can currently achieve – to 350; making it ideal for a wide range of conservatory styles including lean-to’s.

Guaranteed for 25 years, the SlateSkin system is not only durable but up to 50% faster to fit than other traditional conservatory tile roofing methods and recently achieved a fire rating of EXT.AA* when tested to BS476 Part 3:2004 for the External Fire Performance of Roofs, as part of an Equinox system.

New website for Ireland

Eurocell will be launching a dedicated website at www.eurocell.ie to support the growing Irish market. The new site is designed to help the trade in the Republic of Ireland to make most of opportunities in the window, door, conservatory and roofline marketplace. Built with enhanced functionality to provide the best possible resource for customers, the website will broaden its content over time making it a one stop shop for information.

Trade customers will benefit from better-targeted leads and Freephone numbers together with specific content in terms of news and case studies that are based upon projects and sales wins in Ireland.

The Irish site employs the latest techniques and standards in search engine optimisation so that consumers researching products on the internet will be directed to Eurocell fabricators and installers.

David Knight, Web Manager, believes that the new site should prove a valuable asset for customers:” We have created a website that is wholly tailored to the Southern Irish market, making it relevant and effective from launch. Obviously it will develop over time, to reflect business growth and increased customer usage.”

Warmup heating range joins the Eurocell family

As homeowners increasingly turn to underfloor heating in preference to radiators, Eurocell has teamed up with Warmup, the leading floor heating brand, to offer an outstanding array of products.

These range from smart thermostats that interact with the homeowners’ smartphone to control and manage heating to self-adhesive electrical heating mats that can be rolled and laid straight out of the box.

The heating range, which will work with both hyrdronic (plumbed) and electrical underfloor heating systems, consists of Warmup StickyMat System, the Total-16 Insulation System, the Warmup Loose Wire System and the Warmup Foil Heater System. These are backed by a lifetime warranty and Warmup’s own SafetyNET Installation Guarantee, which means that if the product is accidentally damaged during installation then Warmup will replace it free of charge.

The smart thermostats, the 4iE and the 3iE, will both cut heating bills significantly through using the heating more effectively. The 4iE also connects into the homeowner’s wifi in order to suggest the most cost-effective supplier and can be used with most heating systems: combi and system boilers and underfloor heating, electric and hydronic. The 3iE is a dedicated underfloor thermostat that provides extremely accurate heating control.

BBA certifies Modus doors and windows are made to last

After a rigorous series of tests, the British Board of Agrément (BBA) has certified the market-leading Modus system of PVC-U doors and windows.

The BBA looked at the key features for the doors and windows, including thermal properties, weather tightness, ventilation, unauthorised access, access and durability.

Its tests concluded that the PVC-U extruded profiles would continue to function satisfactorily for more than 35 years and that the thermal transmittance value or U-value of the three ranges was 1.2 W/m² using 4/20/4 mm sealed double-glazed units.

Once it concluded its assessment, the BBA issued its Agrément Certificate to the Modus single leaf and double leaf doors, the Modus fully reversible and outward opening and tilt and turn windows for use in replacement and new-build applications, for external use as primary and secondary access doors in walls of domestic and non-domestic buildings.

Eurologik is a big winner at Cheltenham

Cheltenham Borough Council has selected Eurocell to help fulfill works comprising the replacement of windows and composite doors where required for the 5,000 homes under the Council’s management.

The project was won in conjunction with fabricator, Nationwide, and will see our Eurologik system and composite door range being specified as part of a three-year refurbishment programme.

Elsewhere a further seven projects have been won with Wates Living Space, one of the UK’s leading affordable housing and maintenance providers, for a number of mixed developments being built in Hull, Doncaster, Mansfield and Huddersfield.

Eurocell team strengthened

We are always looking to improve the service our customers receive whether it’s winning new business, sorting out technical matters or simply offering advice about our products and solutions. To that end we have strengthend our team and are delighted to announce the appointment of three new associates:

•Colin Allan – Colin joins as business development manager for Scotland and Northern Ireland, with a brief to help commercial contractors and housebuilders. With a background in selling windows and building plastics Colin is well placed to develop opportunities for customers in his area.

•Jason Bird – Jason comes on board as National Business Development Manager and will be working with existing fabricator customers as well as looking to secure new ones. As a seasoned professional in the window business his experience will be invaluable.

•David Briggs – David’s role will be as training manager for building products in the North of England, where he will be advising branch and area managers on a range of Eurocell products including Equinox, SlateSkin and Skypod. David was previously a product manager at Eurocell so he definitely knows his stuff!
