Traditional appearance, cutting edge performance
New Modus S opens up opportunities for period property market
The market for premium flush sash windows continues to grow so we have developed the Modus S, an innovative product that offers homeowners all the benefits of modern materials and performance with the traditional appearance everyone knows and appreciates.
This mechanically jointed flush sash casement window has no diagonal corner welds – a distinctive characteristic of standard PVC-U windows – because of extra precision-engineered mouldings inside the frame that make the welds unnecessary.
This innovative joint detail means that installers and fabricators can supply a product with the aesthetic appearance of timber that delivers all the optimum energy efficiency and virtually maintenance-free performance benefits of PVC-U. This appearance makes Modus S ideal for Victorian-style properties, cottages and conservation areas where the homeowner wishes to maintain or enhance the property’s period style, without the hassle of repainting and repairing that timber windows entail.
Flush on both sides, Modus S offers sleek looks unbroken by external bead lines as, like most contemporary windows, the system is internally beaded for enhanced security standards. And it offers outstanding value because it is up to 25% less expensive than the nearest equivalent PVC-U flush sash product.
Modus S is available in ten colours from stock – including the White Ash, Cream White and Anteak popular for period, premium and self-build properties. In addition, we offer a sophisticated alternative to Chartwell Green amongst its made-to-order options. Called Agate Grey, its subtle hue has been appealing to customers at major exhibitions over the past 12 months.

With two new branch openings this month at Wrexham and Southampton plus the Alfreton branch moving to bigger and better premises – the Eurocell network continues its expansion.“It’s all part of our belief that we need to be literally close to our customers to deliver the best service,” explains Chris Coxon, Head of Marketing. “Opening new branches not only opens up our products and services to new customers but also means that existing customers can rely on us when they’re working further away.”With over 140 branches throughout the country, we are making sure that wherever you work in the UK can always buy direct from the manufacturer.
The speed at which our network is growing shows how attractive our proposition is: more than 4,000 top quality, keenly priced building plastics products on your doorstep.

Schools specify Modus
Models from the Modus range of PVC-U windows have been installed in two of the latest secondary schools to be built in the West Midlands to achieve a contemporary appearance while delivering market-leading thermal performance at a keenly competitive price.
Both single-sex schools were constructed as a design and build project by Thomas Vale Construction, which employed the Birmingham office of ADP as architects, and put forward Modus after value-engineering discussions with Eurocell and the fabricator/installer, Leicester-based Unique Window Systems.
These showed that the Modus slim rebate casement window in a slate grey (RAL 7015) foil finish with a smooth white interior would achieve the same appearance as more conventional alternatives, together with a 25-year design life and 10-year warranty.Unique commented that the Modus range has enabled it to penetrate new markets in the education and commercial sectors, where it is now seen as a viable and cost-effective alternative to aluminium.
The two schools, Eden Girls’ School in Coventry and Eden Boys’ School in Perry Barr, Birmingham, will be Islamic free schools with 500 secondary places and 200 sixth form places. Both schools were commissioned on behalf of the Tauheedul Education Trust, which runs highly successful non-faith and Muslim faith schools.
Double bill at FIT Show 2016
Making plans to visit this year’s FIT Show (12-14 April) at the International Centre, Telford? Then make sure you pay us a visit – in fact two visits! We have so much to show at this year’s event that we have had to take two stands – one for our popular Equinox tiled conservatory roofs and Skypod roof lanterns (stand A70) and another for our high-performance, high aesthetic window and door systems (stand AT13).
Equinox is our innovative tiled conservatory roof system that can be completed in just two days by a three-man team. We’ve now made that even faster to install with a stunning new tiling method – the SlateSkin GRP sheet tiling system. This innovative product cuts the time spent positioning and nailing tiles because it has multiple tile courses built in to each sheet. As a result it is up to 50% quicker to install but there is no compromise in appearance – it looks just as good as real slate and comes with a 25 year guarantee: Win, win.
We are also showcasing the Skypod roof lantern range and its latest model, the SkypodSQ. This square skylight presents perfectly balanced sight lines and, due to its simple but ingenious four-hip design, lets in more natural light than conventional designs of equivalent surface area.
On our other stand the Modus range, including the new Modus S, takes pride of place on the windows stand as the first PVC-U window and door system in the UK to offer a 12-year guarantee. Modus casements were among the first to be awarded the new A++ WER, confirming its brilliant performance.
Tough patio door offers new threshold in security
We are happy to offer what we believe to be the first patio door to meet the challenges of Approved Document Q of the Building Regulations, which was introduced last year. Euroslide is an easily fitted in-line PVC-U patio door that automatically complies with this stringent security standard when it is fabricated to PAS24 standards.
Approved Document Q came into force from October 1 2015 and states that all new build installations and those that have a change of use in England and Wales to demonstrate compliance with PAS24:2012.
Euroslide incorporates a fully-fabricated aluminium interlock with a three-point locking mechanism that has three pairs of 304-grade stainless steel interlock protectors and is operated by a small ergonomically-designed lever located just 900mm above the floor. This height is at wheelchair level, so the door meets the guidelines set out in the Lifetime Homes initiative.
Other features that make a Euroslide patio door such an effective barrier to intruders when PAS24-configured include a heavy-duty door sash reinforcement to protect against forced entry and high winds and an anti-lift fixture that stops intruders lifting panes out of the door frame – a common weak spot in traditional door and window design. The design ensures that intruders cannot reach any of the gaskets and sealants to gain entry because they are applied from the inside.
Available from April 2016.
