At the awards ceremony, which was organised by the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), Eurocell was also Highly Commended in the Environment Award category.

The CCIEM 13 Awards are sponsored by CSCS (Construction Skills Certificate Scheme) and ConstructionSkills. It showcases the professionalism, excellence and innovation at the heart of the Midlands-based construction community.

Eurocell, a leading supplier of windows, doors and building plastics, has invested £3m in creating the largest and most advanced PVC-U recycling facility of its kind in the UK.

The recycling operation in Derbyshire has the capacity to process up to 12,000 end-of-life PVC-U window frames per week.

Eurocell is one of the few companies in the industry to recycle in the UK rather than mainland Europe – avoiding unnecessary additional carbon miles – and is proud to state that its products are ‘Made and recycled in Derbyshire’.

The CIOB judges commended Eurocell for developing a range of innovative new products using this post-consumer recycled PVC-U. Many of these are used to improve the energy efficiency of the properties from which the end-of-life frames are removed (closed-loop recycling), such as PVC-U Thermal Inserts, cavity closers and window profile systems.

Eurocell was also singled out at the CIOB award ceremony for its willingness to embrace sustainability throughout all areas of its business with ongoing programmes to reduce packaging, improve energy efficiency and develop more new products using post-consumer recycled PVC-U.

“We congratulate Eurocell on winning the Renewable Technologies Award and being Highly Commended in the Environment category,” said Adrian Cox, Chair of the Chartered Institute of Building – East Midlands. “It is clearly a business that has gone beyond simply being committed to the environment by placing sustainability at the heart of everything it does.”

“The CCIEM awards highlight all the excellent work being carried out by construction companies across the region,” said Chris Coxon, Head of Marketing at Eurocell. “As a business we are committed to helping specifiers and building owners meet the highest environmental and sustainable standards.”
