Eurocell Lays Groundwork for Customers with Industry Award
Setting the benchmark for sustainable manufacturing leadership has helped Eurocell secure a well deserved place in the finals of the Construction News Awards 2013.
The judging panel commended Eurocell for its £3m investment in enlarging its post-consumer PVC-U recycling operation as well as taking into consideration product performance and strategic direction of the company.
Being shortlisted in this universally recognised industry award will increase awareness of the products and services offered by Eurocell customers directly with specifiers and developers.
Eurocell is the only PVC-U systems company to be shortlisted in this year’s award. The company is up against some stiff competition in the sustainable category with the likes of Aggregate Industries and Jewson.
Constructions News will announce the winner of each category at an awards ceremony in London on 11 July. The judging panel comprises of 53 senior figures from industry and government.
The commitment by Eurocell to sustainable manufacturing leadership extends across the business with ongoing programmes to reduce packaging, improve energy efficiency and develop more new products made using post-consumer recycled PVC-U.
\Alongside this Eurocell has made significant advances in post-consumer recycling and innovative new product development. This includes a £3m investment in enlarging its Derbyshire-based post-consumer recycling facility, which is now the largest in the UK with a capacity to process up to 12,000 end-of-life window frames per week. Eurocell can now recycle around 20,000 tonnes of PVC-U each year.
All Eurocell post-consumer recycling and subsequent manufacture of new products is carried out in the same geographic area, which means the company can proudly state that its products are ‘Made and recycled in Derbyshire’.
The Construction News judges commended Eurocell for its ability to use this recycled material to manufacture new, energy efficient window products in closed-loop recycling process.
“Being shortlisted in the Construction News Awards is good news for our customers as it increases awareness of Eurocell products directly with specifiers and developers,” said Chris Coxon, Head of Marketing. “Eurocell is the only PVC-U systems company to be shortlisted in this year’s award and that sends a clear message that we are committed to driving our customers’ businesses forward in these important sectors.”
